Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival 2024
Right now over in Epcot the International Flower and Garden Festival is going on. This festival runs from February 28,2024 through May 27, 2024. So what exactly is the flower and garden festival you may ask and is it worth going to? Let's dig in to some details and we will give you our opinion on the festival and whether or not we think it's a good idea to go plus a website at the end that we use to plan out our days if we do go.
So the International Flower and Garden festival kicked off in Epcot in 1994. It ran for 38 days and was meant as a celebration of Disney’s character-themed topiary arrangements. In 1995 the Festival debuted a new miniature train and town display next to the Germany Pavilion. Officially named the Epcot Garden Railway, the display showcased flowers amid the train tracks and buildings, and was so popular, it has been in its same location ever since. Props are added during some festivals to correspond with the official festival signage around the World Showcase lagoon. This festival usually starts in late February and runs through the end of May or June and sometimes through July. Today there is so much more to do during the festival, there is a butterfly garden, Blossoms of Fragrance presented by Scentsy, and 25 global gardens you can explore and or just look at during your time at the festival, and food booths to try!
The cost of the festival is free with admission although there are some events that do cost extra if you wish to participate (although I haven't seen many of these come back since Covid, hopefully with the new Communicore Hall we will be getting some of these events back). With the festival there is also a concert series called the Garden Rocks Concerts. There is a lineup of performers and they will play three shows in the evening and the lineup is usually pretty good and worth it. You can also do a Garden Rocks Dining Package and I will place the link with that information here: https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/garden-rocks-concerts-and-dining-package-information/
So is the festival worth it? Well in our opinion, yes it is totally worth it to do this festival. We have done this festival twice so far and both times we have been blown away by it. We have never actually participated in the Garden Rocks concerts, but we have done just about everything else. The food is amazing, the butterfly garden is so pretty and so full. As long as you don't have a fear of them it is a must do. The blossoms of fragrance is sort of a hit and miss, some of the things we could smell some we could not. The topiaries are so amazingly beautiful and big and well crafted. If you have a green thumb, or if you just love spring time we really do recommend this festival.
If you would like a full list of booths, menus, and pictures of the food that is available head on over to our friends at https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024-epcot-flower-and-garden-festival-booth-menus-and-food-photos/ they will also give you prices of the food to help you budget your day!
